MCKAYLA HIGGINS
writer and transcriptionist

McKayla Higgins is a writer who is currently querying her thriller novel AMERICAN GARBAGE, a story which is both a critique of today’s reality television obsessed culture and an indictment of a country that lets so many of its own people live in poverty. Its characters join the show from all walks of life, determined to escape the endless grind of working in food, retail, and customer service with the cash prize offered. The show dissolves into chaos when the contestants discover even death doesn't stop the cameras from rolling.

She is also working on a second novel, a horror story about a queer couple facing off against invisible monsters who are preying on members of the LGBT community across the US.

McKayla has written for Tarrant County Community College’s The Collegian (named University and College Newspaper of the Year by the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors) and has a Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University.

“To some extent, I happily don’t know what I’m doing.
I feel that it’s an artist’s responsibility to trust that.”
